5th Global Surgery Symposium – University of Toronto
The University of Toronto Department of Surgery hosted its 5th Annual Global Surgery Symposium with guest speaker Dr. Ewen Harrison from the University of Edinburgh.
Dr. Ewen Harrison described use of crowdsourcing data through the GlobalSurg program, including how the concept of GlobalSurg first developed, challenges and successes in implementing it, and what new evidence they have discovered so far.
Dr. Harrison’s talk was followed by a rich panel discussion on Global Surgery experiences in different settings and how stakeholders can collaborate and share information through this crowdsourcing model.
The symposium concluded with short presentations by clinicians and researchers presenting on their Global Surgery projects and a call for further collaboration, with examples of opportunities and partnership examples.
